Alex Herriot - Bio

Alex Herriot - BioAt the age of 21, Alex became a full time professional musician. He was a key factor in the formation of the swing jump blues quintet known as The Rockin' Highliners. In the span of eight years the band produced and released three recordings, two of which were signed to the record labels Square Dog Records and Stony Plain Records/Warner Records Canada. The Rockin' Highliners were fortunate enough to have producers such as Marek Forysinski and Duke Robillard on board for the albums "What Were You Thinking" and "Oh My". During Alex's time in the Highliners the band toured throughout Canada, USA and Europe to the extent of 200 plus shows year. The band was nominated and presented with numerous awards including The Juno's, PMA's, COCA, ARIA's, WCMA's, Real Blues Magazine and Maple Blues Awards. They recorded two videos produced by Joel Stewart which were featured on Much Music Canada, Country Music Television and national television stations. The Highliners appeared on many television shows and have been on rotation with mainstream / college / public / internet radio throughout Canada, USA and Europe. During Alex's career he has opened for and played with many highly respected artists such as Blue Rodeo, Gord Downie, 54/40, Brian Adams, Duke Robillard, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Big Sugar, Wide Mouth Mason and Jan Arden to name a few.

Alex is involved with a number of different bands as a session player, co-member, frontman and sideman. Bands such as The Nightkeepers, Los Bastardos, The Mike Plume Band, Kiwi North and Marc Dufresne. Alex's newest endeavor is the reunion and comeback of the award winning band The Rockin' Highliners. Under his direction the band is booking shows, writing new songs and preparing for a new album. In between time and in the meantime Alex is writing and recording original material and offering his expertise in guitar lessons, stage presence, band performance and musical guidance for up and coming artists.
